Bel Fuse names Tom Smelker president of connectivity solutions unit

Bel Fuse Inc. (NASDAQ: BELFA, BELFB) appointed Tom Smelker as President of Connectivity Solutions, effective January 26, 2026, according to a company statement.

Smelker brings more than 20 years of experience in aerospace and defense sectors. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Mercury Systems, where he managed a $400+ million profit and loss operation across ten sites. At Mercury Systems, his division achieved improved profitability and repositioned product lines into performing units.

Prior to Mercury Systems, Smelker spent 19 years at Raytheon, advancing to Senior Fellow in Secure Processing. At Raytheon, he launched a secure systems business and developed product capabilities in advanced microelectronics, working with the U.S. Department of Defense and prime contractors.

His expertise includes ruggedized computing, RF systems, secure microelectronics, and space technologies for defense and commercial aviation applications. Smelker has experience with compliance requirements including ITAR and CMMC standards.
