Autoliv Inc. (NYSE: ALV) has signed a strategic agreement with China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co (CATARC) to jointly advance automotive safety standards and innovation in China and internationally, according to a company statement.
The partnership combines Autoliv's automotive safety expertise with CATARC's technical service capabilities to establish an integrated service system for enhancing safety standards of vehicles produced in China. The collaboration will provide technical support for research and development and global expansion of Chinese automakers.
The agreement focuses on four areas: collaborative research in safety technologies, testing and certification support, international business development for Chinese original equipment manufacturers, and public welfare and sustainability initiatives.
"Autoliv has had a strong presence in China for over three decades and this partnership marks a new chapter in our commitment to shaping the future of automotive safety," said Fabien Dumont, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Autoliv.
The partnership will leverage CATARC's strengths in product testing, certification, and research and development. The companies stated the agreement aims to increase industry-university-research integration and optimize the use of domestic and international research and development resources.
CATARC, established in 1985, operates under the supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. The organization provides technical services covering the automotive industry chain and product life cycle.
