Arbutus Biopharma wins patent ruling against Moderna

A U.S. District Court in Delaware issued a memorandum and order on February 2, 2026, in patent litigation between Arbutus Biopharma Corporation (NASDAQ: ABUS) and Moderna Inc. regarding COVID-19 vaccine technology.
The case involves Arbutus and its licensee Genevant Sciences GmbH seeking damages from Moderna for alleged infringement of six U.S. patents in the manufacture and sale of MRNA-1273, Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine.
The patents in question are numbered 8,058,069, 8,492,359, 8,822,668, 9,364,435, 9,504,651, and 11,141,378. The court's memorandum and order was issued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
