Anaergia wins C$43.8 million renewable power contract in San Diego
Anaergia Technologies LLC, a subsidiary of Anaergia Inc. (TSX: ANRG; OTCQX: ANRGF), received a C$43.8 million design-build contract from the East County Advanced Water Purification Joint Powers Authority in San Diego, California.
The contract covers the design, construction, commissioning and startup of a renewable power generation facility that converts organic waste into renewable energy. The system will use Anaergia's anaerobic digestion and combined heat and power technologies to generate electricity from biogas produced on-site.
Construction is expected to be completed within two years. The facility aims to enhance the Joint Powers Authority's energy resiliency and reduce operational costs.
"This project will serve our ratepayers by reducing our operating costs and enhancing energy resiliency of critical high-quality water infrastructure confronted with rising power costs," said Kyle Swanson, CEO and General Manager of Padre Dam Municipal Water District, which manages the East County Advanced Water Purification Plant.
The East County Advanced Water Purification Program is a collaborative effort between Padre Dam Municipal Water District, the City of El Cajon, the County of San Diego and Helix Water District. The program uses recycled water purification technology to create a local drinking water supply.
Anaergia CEO Assaf Onn said the contract demonstrates the company's integrated technologies for essential infrastructure projects and helps customers advance clean energy transition objectives.
The information is based on a press release statement from Anaergia Inc.
