American Airlines and Mastercard extend co-branded credit card partnership

American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) and Mastercard announced an extension of their partnership for co-branded credit cards, maintaining Mastercard as the exclusive payment network partner for American's credit card offerings.

The agreement builds on nearly 40 years of collaboration between the companies. Under the extended partnership, Mastercard will continue to serve as the payment network for American's AAdvantage co-branded credit cards.

"American is proud to collaborate with Mastercard to deliver best-in-class travel solutions for our AAdvantage co-branded credit cardmembers," said Robert Isom, American Airlines CEO.

The partnership will utilize Mastercard's payment infrastructure and analytics to provide personalized offers and fraud detection services. Cardholders will have access to Mastercard Priceless Experiences, which include events and destination access.

"We're incredibly proud of our partnership with American Airlines and the nearly 40 years of priceless experiences, benefits and innovation the program has brought to cardholders," said Michael Miebach, Mastercard CEO.

The companies stated they will use advanced analytics to enhance customer travel experiences and provide new ways for AAdvantage members to redeem miles. Mastercard's technology will power real-time fraud detection and payment optimization from booking through in-flight transactions.

American Airlines operates flights to more than 350 destinations in over 60 countries and is a founding member of the oneworld alliance. The information was provided in a joint press release from the companies.
