Alva Therapeutics appoints former Novo Nordisk executive to board

Alva Therapeutics announced the appointment of Jesper Høiland to its board of directors. Høiland spent over 30 years at Novo Nordisk, including roles as executive vice president and president.



The Milpitas, California-based company is developing an oral incretin secretagogue therapy for Type 2 diabetes and obesity treatment. Alva plans to begin U.S. clinical trials in 2026.



Høiland previously served as president and CEO of Radius Health and as global commercial officer at Ascendis Pharma. He currently chairs SciBase Holding AB and serves on boards at ALK-Abelló A/S, Flen Health SA, and Allarity Therapeutics.



"Jesper brings decades of experience and knowledge in guiding pharmaceutical product launches in the diabetes space," said Mir Imran, CEO and chairman of Alva Therapeutics.



Alva describes its therapy as a once-daily capsule designed to restore insulin sensitivity and metabolic function. The company is part of InCube Labs and was founded by Imran, who has established more than 20 life science companies.
