Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: ALM) (TSX: AII) (ASX: AII) appointed Brigadier General (Retired) Steven L. Allen as Chief Operating Officer, the tungsten producer announced.
Allen brings 33 years of U.S. Army leadership experience in sustainment and logistics operations. He previously served as Commanding General of the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Director of Logistics for U.S. Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command and United Nations Command, and Commandant of the U.S. Army Ordnance School.
The retired general holds degrees from the University of North Dakota, Central Michigan University, Florida Institute of Technology, and the U.S. Army War College. His military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
In his new role, Allen will oversee tungsten delivery optimization at Almonty's Sangdong and Panasqueira mines and accelerate development of the South Korean Sangdong Molybdenum Project and U.S.-based Gentung Browns Lake Project.
"Steven's prior significant experience in Korea coupled with his deep experience in building high-performing teams, aligning global operations, and executing complex logistics strategies positions him well to create sustainable, long-term value for my fellow shareholders," said Lewis Black, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Almonty.
The company operates tungsten mining operations in South Korea and Portugal, with additional projects in Spain and the United States. Almonty's Sangdong Mine in South Korea is described by the company as historically one of the world's largest and highest-grade tungsten deposits.
