Alcon exercises right to adjourn STAAR Surgical stockholder meeting

STAAR Surgical Company (NASDAQ: STAA) announced that Alcon (NYSE: ALC) has exercised its right under their merger agreement to require STAAR to adjourn its Special Meeting of Stockholders.
The Special Meeting, originally scheduled for December 19, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time, has been rescheduled to January 6, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. The meeting relates to the proposed merger between the two companies.
The record date for STAAR stockholders eligible to vote at the Special Meeting remains the close of business on October 24, 2025. Under the merger agreement terms, Alcon had the contractual right to request this adjournment.
STAAR Surgical manufactures the Implantable Collamer Lens for vision correction and is headquartered in Lake Forest, California. The company has operations in California and Switzerland and has sold more than 3 million lenses in over 75 countries.
