ASUR reports mixed passenger traffic results for June 2025
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (NYSE: ASR; BMV: ASUR) reported total passenger traffic of 6.0 million passengers in June 2025, representing a 1.8% decrease compared to June 2024, according to a press release issued Monday.
The airport operator's traffic results varied by region. Colombia operations showed growth with passenger traffic increasing 1.7% year-over-year, driven by a 13.3% surge in international traffic that offset a 1.4% decline in domestic traffic. Mexico operations experienced a 2.8% decrease in passenger traffic, with both international traffic declining 3.4% and domestic traffic falling 2.1%. Puerto Rico operations at San Juan Airport saw a 3.3% decrease in total traffic, despite international traffic growing 9.2%, as domestic traffic dropped 5.1%.
For the first half of 2025, ASUR's total passenger traffic remained flat at 36.3 million passengers compared to the same period in 2024. Year-to-date results showed Puerto Rico leading with 6.8% growth, Colombia recording 3.6% growth, while Mexico declined 3.4%.
The company operates 16 airports across the Americas, including nine airports in southeast Mexico, six airports in northern Colombia, and holds a 60% stake in the operator of Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. ASUR's flagship Cancun Airport, described as the most important tourist destination in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, experienced a 3.6% decline in total traffic during June.
