AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) completed the divestiture of ZT Systems' data center infrastructure manufacturing business to Sanmina (NASDAQ: SANM), the company announced.
Under the transaction, AMD retained ZT Systems' design and customer enablement teams while transferring the manufacturing operations to Sanmina. The deal establishes Sanmina as a preferred manufacturing partner for AMD's cloud rack and cluster-scale AI solutions.
AMD acquired ZT Systems earlier to expand its data center capabilities. The company stated it will use the retained design teams to accelerate deployment of AI systems for cloud customers.
"By extending our leadership from silicon to software to full systems, we're giving cloud and AI customers an open, scalable path to deploy AMD performance faster than ever," said Forrest Norrod, executive vice president and general manager of AMD's Data Center Solutions business unit.
The arrangement allows AMD to maintain design expertise while partnering with Sanmina for U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. Sanmina joins AMD's existing network of original design manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer partners.
