UBS analyst Peter Grom reiterated a Neutral rating and $5.00 price target on Newell Brands Inc (NASDAQ: NWL).
The analyst commented, "On Thursday afternoon, we hosted a group meeting with members of Newell Brands' management team, including: CFO - Mark Erceg, and SVP - Investor Relations Joanne Freiberger. Overall, the tone of the meeting was constructive, with mgmt. displaying confidence/conviction in the company's LT trajectory. The company emphasized that recent initiatives - particularly around tariff mitigation, innovation, and organizational alignment - are laying the foundation for sustained top line growth and margin improvement, particularly in the back half of FY25, with further acceleration expected in FY26. In many ways we came away from the meetings with greater confidence that the company is delivering on many of the objectives within their control, but uncertainty on category growth could limit the pace/magnitude of a potential top line recovery from here. Bulls may argue that this uncertainty is more than priced in with shares now trading at -30% discount to HPC peers (vs. 10-yr historical average of -20%). We don't necessarily disagree, but valuation alone has not proven to be a meaningful catalyst to get shares moving in the right direction across the group. Should we get greater confidence that the embedded 2H improvement is taking shape this could lead us to become more constructive, but until visibility improves, we remain on the sidelines."
