H.C. Wainwright analyst Matthew Caufield reiterated a Buy rating and $8.00 price target on Opus Genetics (NASDAQ: IRD).

The analyst commented: "The company continues advancement across its inherited retinal disease (IRD) platform demonstrating positive initial datasets: (i) OPGx-LCA5 for treating LCA5-related mutations; and (ii) OPGx-BEST1 for treating BEST1-related retinal degeneration. Moreover, the company maintains development for preclinical IRD gene therapies targeting RHO, CNGB1, RDH12-LCA, and NMNAT1, which we presently view as upside. We highlight the preclinical pipeline builds on additional clinical development plans for OPGx-MERTK for MERTK-related retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a disease which otherwise leads to progressive vision loss and subsequent blindness. We point out this latter program is supported by funding secured from Abu Dhabi’s Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund, a program which we believe can provide further validation for the IRD development pipeline. Separate from the internal IRD platform, we note the upcoming October 17, 2026 PDUFA date for partnered presbyopia ophthalmic eye drop phentolamine (ophthalmic solution, 0.75%), which could provide broader optionality within the evolving presbyopia landscape. Based on our focus on the IRD clinical platform progress, we reiterate our Buy rating and $8 price target."
