Goldman Sachs maintained a Neutral rating on American International Group (NYSE: AIG) with a price target of $50.00. Comments follow Q1 results.
Analyst Michael Nannizzi said, "AIG reported 1Q14 operating EPS of $1.21 vs. GS/consensus $1.05/$1.06. Although AIG beat estimates, P&C, the investor focal point, fell short. This shortfall was more than offset by better results in the Life segment (driven by alternatives) and mark-to-market gains in the Direct Investment Book (DIB). Capital deployment exceeded expectations as well, despite lack of clarity on non-bank SIFI."
