Cowen today maintained an Outperform rating on Uni-Pixel (NASDAQ: UNXL) with a price target of $46.00. In the view of analyst Robert Stone, Uni-Pixel's recent declined relates to concerns about UniBoss sensors. Specifically, do they work and can they be produced in volume?
"Among the coterie of anonymous 'experts' claiming UniBoss doesn't work was one who cited problems with the 'underlying chemical properties of copper.' That's right, he's saying the same material used to make virtually every printed circuit board somehow can't pass a damp heat test."
Stone believe Uni-Pixel has tested UniBoss at 85 C and 85% humidity.
"Finished products are not expected in stores until Q4, and short sellers may continue to take advantage of this period of uncertainty . . . We raise again this simple logic test: if it is so easy to spot the supposed flaws in UniBoss technology that this can be accomplished by secretly taking "close up photographs of the product when the management team wasn't looking," why didn't the capacity partners and Kodak (who surely have had extensive opportunity to see the equipment, tour the facilities, and do their own tests), notice these 'product quality' problems?"
