Benchmark analyst Matthew Harrigan reiterated a Buy rating and $18.00 price target on Warner Brothers Discovery (NASDAQ: WBD).

The analyst commented: "We reiterate our Buy and $18 price target for Warner Bros. Discovery, with the stock having been added to Benchmark’s Best Ideas List on 6.30. Opening weekend Superman North American box office registered at a commendable $122M alongside a $217M global total. (Superman movies tend to resonate better in the U.S.). More important than immediate economics for the $225M production cost movie starring David Corenswet, the favorable reception supports the outlook for a high profile queue from DC Studios including 2026’s Supergirl and Clayface , more Batman releases, a new Wonder Woman in development and a Green Lantern TV show (Lanterns) for HBO Max. This follows Warner Bros. earlier 2025 heady success with A Minecraft Movie, with the video game adaptation having reached $955M globally including $554M overseas. Although we do not expect a major immediate stock price move off Superman its performance does eliminate a (more visible than the usual black swan) superhero flop akin to Marvel’s Thunderbolts release. Under prior management development prior to Gunn and Peter Safran, DC Studios did have four relatively recent disappointments including The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Blue Beetle."
